Note from Author and Illustrator - Sarah Riche

Key words are the most commonly used words in the English language. Over years of teaching, I've observed that children who can recognise key words by sight make quick progress with reading, as many of the most frequently occurring words are non-phonetic.

I initially created these early readers for my daughter, who at 4 years old wanted to read the Bible on her own! This reading scheme breaks Bible stories down into simple sentences that the very youngest reader can manage.

Each book introduces a few key words at a time and repeats them consistently throughout.

Subsequent books will build on a child's sight word vocabulary, giving an opportunity to practice familiar words as well as adding new ones. Phonetic words are also included as the first level progresses, so that children can practise sounding out letters they know.

Level 1 consists of 8 Old Testament Stories with between 6 and 15 new words introduced per book.

Level 2 consists of 8 New Testament Stories with between 6 and 15 new words introduced per book.
